Uploading Vehicle Photos

Photos are one of the most important ways to advertise your vehicles online. Cars with photos attract far more shopper interest than cars without a photo. Use the tips below to get started—and set your vehicle apart from your competition.

Image dimension

We recommend that digital photos are 640x480 pixels or smaller. Please resize larger images proportionately. A larger image may be distorted or may not appear at all.

File size: smaller is better

Prospective buyers may not wait for a large file to download so keep your photo's file size under 100KB. File sizes are listed next to file names in your computer's directory. If you can’t see them, select View from the directory's menu and then select Details to display.

File format: JPEGs and GIFs only

Please ensure your photo file is in JPEG or GIF format (i.e., a file name that ends with .jpg/.jpeg or .gif). Renaming a file other than a JPEG or a GIF to give it the suffix .jpg/.jpeg/.gif is not sufficient to display it. To learn more, see “How to Resize and Reformat Photos" below.

The 01 stock number and VIN naming conventions

Naming a file by the car’s Stock Number or VIN automatically adds the photo to the appropriate vehicle listing. All other photos are saved to Vehicle Photos in the Multimedia area and may be assigned at a later date.

To automatically associate photos with vehicles, number each photo in the order you want them to appear followed by an underscore and the Stock Number or VIN.  An example is: 01_180231.jpg, 02_180231.jpg, 03_180231.jpg, 04_180231.jpg and so on. The first photo is assigned as the primary photo.

Tip: To reduce loading time, do not include spaces in your file name.
